ABOUT RENO KRAV MAGA

ABOUT KRAV MAGA

Krav Maga (pronounced “krahv mahGAH”) is an effective, modern, and dynamic self-defense and fighting system. It is designed to be practical and intuitive for people of any age, shape, or size. The techniques expand on your natural instincts to develop skills quickly and effectively, while enabling you to address attacks under any scenario. You will learn how to defend yourself and your loved ones, while gaining increased awareness and instinctive reflexes.
Krav Maga is not about fighting; it’s about defending yourself from an unarmed or armed attacker(s). Krav Maga is not a martial art nor is it a sport. It is a brutally effective means of defending oneself from a violent attacker or multiple attackers either armed or unarmed, or both.  You will also learn to develop the proper mindset that will allow you to recognize a problem before it escalates, and too quickly find the most desirable solutions to eliminate that problem.  You will also learn what to do after being involved in a violent encounter with an attacker(s) such as; escaping, reporting the incident to the appropriate authorities, checking ones self for injuries and dealing with the stress associated with violent encounters.
Krav Maga means Contact Combat in Hebrew, and was originally developed in the late 1940’s by Imrich “Imi” Lichtenfeld (Immi Sde-Or), Chief Instructor for hand-to-hand combat and combat fitness training for the Israeli Defense Forces, and grew out of an immediate need for the newly independent State of Israel to defend its borders against neighboring Arab countries. The system had to be simple and quick to learn, easy to retain, and be highly effective. It has been developed extensively over the years; it is a proven system of close quarter self defense. Krav Maga is the official close quarter combat of Israel’s Armed Forces and many S.W.A.T. Law Enforcement and Military units all over the world.

WHO CAN LEARN KRAV MAGA

Anyone can learn Krav Maga.  It does not matter if you are 18 or 81.  There is no experience necessary to begin Krav Maga.  Techniques are based on scientific principles and instinctive actions that do not rely on strength or size. This makes it an extremely desireable discipline for women who are looking for a viable and highly effective means of self-defense.  We also teach you to exploit the weaknesses of the human body in order to gain the upper hand rapidly so that the confrontation can be resolved efficiently and effectively.  You will not only develop your empty handed skills, but you will also develop proficiency with modern and improvised weapons, all of which are based upon empty handed skills. Therefore it stands to reason that the better you are with your empty handed skills, the better you will be when you place a weapon in those very same hands.
